So I Started a Game Studio
They said retire. Play golf. Enjoy the golden years. I had another idea.

They said I should retire.
Play golf.
Enjoy my golden years.
Or...
How about I start an MMO game studio?
I'm 65 years old. I'm not dead.
Let's hit the road and create something wild.
So naturally, I decided my first video game should be a persistent business strategy MMO with a living global economy.
This should go well.
Welcome to Codger One Studios.
We're building Corporate Warfare, a persistent business strategy game where the economy is the battlefield.
No armies. No spaceships. No saving the kingdom.
We're talking companies. Banks. Factories. Transportation. Resources. Employees. Contracts. Debt. Competitors. Acquisitions. Supply chains. Markets.
And opportunity.
You Are the Founder
Every human player enters Corporate Warfare as a Founder.
Start a company. Buy one. Invest in one. Build an empire. Lose an empire. Maybe take over somebody else's.
Maybe buy the bank that financed it.
Companies need workers. Factories need materials. Materials need transportation. Banks make loans. Businesses compete for customers, resources and capital.
Some companies will thrive. Some will fail.
Somebody will see opportunity in both.
That's Corporate Warfare.
The World Keeps Moving
Corporate Warfare is built around a persistent, living economy.
The world doesn't stop when you log off. Factories operate. Goods move. Contracts continue. Markets change. Other Founders make decisions.
But we're not building a game that requires you to sit in front of a computer twelve hours a day just to survive.
Finding that balance isn't easy.
Good. Easy would be boring.
Strategy Earns Victory
We've already planted one flag firmly in the ground:
Money buys experience, expression and convenience. Strategy earns victory.
We're not building a game where the guy with the biggest credit card automatically becomes the best businessman.
Build something great and you should have earned it.
Make a terrible decision? You should probably own that too.
I've made enough bad business decisions in 65 years to know they usually come with an invoice.
We're Building This in Public
That's what The Build is about.
Each week, I'll take you inside another piece of Corporate Warfare — the economy, banking, ownership, competition, bankruptcy, transportation and some of the problems we haven't figured out yet.
Sometimes we'll change our minds. Sometimes Tuesday's brilliant idea will look ridiculous by Thursday.
That's called building something.
Eventually, we'll need people willing to enter this world and try their hardest to break it.
Those will be our Founding Alpha Testers.
If building companies, making deals, outthinking competitors and occasionally taking over somebody else's empire sounds like your kind of fun, stick around.
We're just getting started.
I was supposed to be playing golf.
Yeah... that's not happening.
I think I'll build an empire instead.
